Downsizes only; SVG is drawn at this size (default 1024).

E.g. 500 or 2000 for a “max 2 MB” form. Quality, then pixel size, is lowered until it fits.

Why convert HEIF to JPG?

HEIF saves space on the phone, but Windows, older Android apps and many web forms can’t open it. JPG works everywhere.

What to expect

  • Uses the same libheif decoder as HEIC (both are HEIF files).

The two formats

HEIF: High Efficiency Image File Format (ISO/IEC 23008-12)

The container behind HEIC. Samsung and other Android phones, and some cameras, save .heif files; most hold HEVC-compressed photos just like an iPhone’s .heic.

JPG: JPEG (ISO/IEC 10918-1)

The universal photo format. Lossy compression in 8×8 pixel blocks, no transparency, opens absolutely everywhere.
