Why convert TIFF to JPG?
TIFF scans are huge and most websites, phones and email programs won’t preview them. JPG makes them easy to share.
What to expect
- Only the first page of a multi-page TIFF is converted.
- Supported: common 8-bit and 16-bit RGB/greyscale with no, LZW, PackBits, Deflate or JPEG compression. Unusual CMYK or 32-bit float TIFFs may fail and are reported.
- Very large scans can exceed a phone’s memory; use a computer for 100+ megapixel files.

TIFF: Tagged Image File Format
Favoured by scanners, print shops and archives. Can hold several pages and high bit depths; browsers can’t display it.
JPG: JPEG (ISO/IEC 10918-1)
The universal photo format. Lossy compression in 8×8 pixel blocks, no transparency, opens absolutely everywhere.

Why won’t my browser open a TIFF?
Of the major browsers only Safari has TIFF support; this page decodes TIFF with JavaScript so it works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox too.
What quality should I use for scans of documents?
85 is a good balance. Text stays legible and files shrink a lot.
Can I get all pages?
Not in this tool. Export each page from the scanner software, or keep the TIFF.
